10 Terrible Actors Who Got Lucky Breaks

5. Christopher Mintz-Plasse

Sure, like just about everyone, I found Christopher Mintz-Plasse one of the funniest things about Greg Motolla€™s superb 2007 comedy Superbad. He played McLovin, the punishingly awkward, bespectacled nerd whose famous Hawaiin ID resulted in plenty of chuckles, along with his ridiculous sexual escapades throughout the film. Great fun though he was, all he€™s proven since the film€™s release is that he€™s a one-trick pony, and a pretty terrible actor at that. All the guy ever plays is the supporting awkward kid; the guy has no range whatsoever, which of course leads many to suggest that he€™s essentially playing himself and neglecting the €œacting€ part of a career in the movies. Sure, if an actor€™s natural personality lines up with a film role, then great, but actors who play it safe and end up typecast have only themselves to blame when people get tired of their antics and label them as bad actors. Maybe the guy can shock us all and play something drastically different, but I won€™t hold my breath.
