10 Terrible Characters In Otherwise Awesome Movies

6. Emma Frost (January Jones) - X-Men: First Class

For long-time X-Men fans, this is a particularly galling one. By all rights, Emma Frost is not a name that should ever show up on a bad characters list. Whilst celebrated primarily for her sex appeal, she's among the most fascinating and nuanced X-Men characters, known for enigmatically playing off both sides and leaving questions as to where her loyalities lie.

No such luck with the character's representation in X-Men: First Class. For starters, she was presented largely as a straight-up villain giving little sense of any middle ground; and, rather more pressingly, she was horrendously miscast. January Jones gives almost certainly the worst performance in the history of the X-Men movies, if not the worst in modern comic book movies period.

Happily, this isn't enough to keep X-Men: First Class from being arguably the best X-Men movie made to date, but it's not too surprising that they opted to dispense with the character in an off-camera death mentioned briefly in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

(Of course, it is worth noting that a rumoured on-set affair between Jones and director Matthew Vaughn may also have had some bearing on the actress not being brought back.)
