10 Terrible Horror Movies Everybody Loves

4. Final Destination

Final Destination illustrates how frighteningly easy it is for horror films to slide into territory that ends up producing more howls of laughter than gasps of terror.

While the franchise received praise for its ultra-creative kill sequences and the notion of Death manifested as an invisible force, the slapstick manner in which many of the series' most immortal deaths occurred meant that it never had a reputation for being ultra-scary - a cardinal sin in the eyes of many fans.

The first and titular installment in the franchise depicts Death hunting the survivors of Flight 180, who escape death after protagonist Alex Browning receives a premonition that it will explode in mid-air. This unseen, insidious version of Death is clearly less than pleased and proceeds to set about dispatching the aforementioned survivors in a series of increasingly ridiculous deaths.

It's impossible to take Final Destination seriously as a result of its inherently B-movie quality performances and cartoonishly grisly depictions of death. Not withstanding this however, it's an absolute side splitter of a horror outing and a morbidly enjoyable experience that fans just couldn't get enough of. This status quo remained decidedly intact across the franchise's five picture run and rabid audiences just kept coming back for more ridiculous carnage.

It seems truly remarkable that such a sub-par offering is so beloved, let alone the fact that it kicked off one of the most successful horror franchises of all time.
