10 Terrible Horror Movies (You Couldn't Stop Thinking About)
2. Wish Upon
Wish Upon was marketed like a Final Destination-esque riff on The Monkey's Paw for tweens - a PG-13 horror in which a teenage girl (Joey King) discovers that a magic music box grants her seven wishes, but kills someone close to her each time she wishes.
Many assumed that Wish Upon would be quickly panned and the world would move on, but within days of its release it began to establish something of a rep for itself as an unintentionally hilarious work of so-bad-it's-good cinema.
From the outrageously clunky teen dialogue - seemingly written by someone who has never met nor somehow ever been a teenager - to the deeply unserious death scenes and a gut-bustingly funny climax that truly defies everything we know about cinema, Wish Upon is... something, alright.
No movie that earnestly uses the line "Wait, you dig on multiverses?" not once but twice can be entirely dismissed, and in the very least, Wish Upon is an awful movie with some personality.
