Location, location, location: a phrase almost as important for directors as it is for people buying a new home. For many filmmakers, finding the perfect setting can really help make or break a scene. In certain cases, directors are so keen on shooting in a particular place, they end up agreeing to somewhat questionable conditions to make their ideal scene happen.

Talking to the Hollywood Reporter, Matt Damon described one kind of deal some directors had to strike to get their desired location. Apparently, to be able to shoot in one of Donald Trump's buildings, they had to include him somewhere in the film. Most of the time, directors knew going in that they were able to leave his role on the cutting room floor, resulting in pointless shoots where they had to film his cameo to get their permit. This happened whilst filming Scent Of A Woman, where Al Pacino even needed to address Trump by his name.

Other films such as Home Alone 2 and The Associate still kept Trump in the theatrical cut though. So the next time you cringe when he suddenly appears on screen, bear in mind that the people who made the film didn't really want him there in the first place.
