10 "Terrible" Movie Sequels That Are Actually Good

7. Grease 2

Grease is a timeless classic and that meant that any potential sequel was always going to struggle to live up to its heights - something that 1982's Grease 2 found out the hard way.

Grease 2 isn't exactly as timeless as its predecessor, but that doesn't mean it's without its own charms... quite the opposite, in fact. A gender-swapped rehash of the original story, it follows dreamy nerd Michael Carrington (played by Maxwell Caulfield) as he attempts to woo cool girl Stephanie Zinone (Michelle Pfeiffer) by taking on the persona of a mysterious biker. And even though it lacks the pizzazz of its predecessor, it's arguably a more enjoyable film.

The characters are more nuanced, the musical performances are every bit as catchy and, even though it's set in the '60s, there's an undeniably anachronistic '80s vibe to the film that just makes it that much more charming. On top of that, Caulfield plays both aspects of Michael's personality really well, Pfeiffer is outstanding the whole way throughout and the pair's chemistry is nothing short of electric. And, in all honesty, 'Cool Rider' might just be the greatest song to come from either Grease film.

Cheesy? Yes. But so much fun.
