10 "Terrible" Movie Sequels That Are Actually Good

Predator is undoubtedly one of the greatest alien/sci-fi/monster movies of all time, but it wasn't always considered as such; it had to fight over a period of time to earn that reputation. The same thing could be said about its sequel, Predator 2, which received much more negative reviews than its predecessor and, after nearly three decades, opinions have started to change.

However, while Predator has ascended to all-time greatest territory, Predator 2 has become more of a cult-classic... and that's because it still hasn't torn down the belief that it's a 'bad film'. And that is a darn shame because it certainly isn't.

The truth is that none of the franchise's sequels have managed to recreate the charm of the first, but Predator 2 is the only one to come close - and it did so without ever being derivative of the 1987 classic. Furthermore, Danny Glover proves himself a worthy successor to Arnold Schwarzenegger, becoming an unexpectedly brilliant action hero in the process, while the Predator itself is much more of a character than the first one.

It's not Predator, but it's a heck of a lot better than everything that came next and it functions well as a standalone thriller.
