10 Terrible Movie Super Villains Which Deserve Another Attempt
6. Electro
Another Spider-Man villain, and, surprise - it's another character from The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Jamie Foxx's casting as Electro was an interesting one, and it easily could have paid off in spades if executed properly.
Spoiler alert: it wasn't.
Instead of taking an over-the-top campy Spider-Man villain and turning him into something cinematic and life-threatening, Electro was given the throwaway treatment. Making Max Dillion a man twisted by his poor treatment on the fringes of society could have worked incredibly well, but instead of allowing him to become a true threat to Spidey, he was easily defeated and killed during the pair's fight, delivering and apparent swift end to any chance of him becoming a recurring threat to Andrew Garfield's take on the wallcrawler.
Electro isn't one of Spider-Man's best known villains, and after The Amazing Spider-Man 2, he'll likely be remembered by movie-goers as a one-and-done character instead of the true antagonist he should have been. Recent news that Jamie Foxx will reprise the role in the MCU has been met with tentative optimism, and hopefully he'll be given a fight-scene not set to a nursery rhyme this time around.
