10 Terrible Movies By Great Directors

2. Jack - Francis Ford Coppola

The Counsellor
Buena Vista

Apocalypse Now, The Godfather Part I & II, and The Conversation are some of the most important movies in the history of filmmaking, and it's hard to imagine if they could have been executed any better. Jack, on the other hand, is a movie that deserves little to no praise. It's a marvel that it came from Coppola, and not in a good way.

The basic premise is that a young boy ages at many times the rate of an average human, so at 10 years old he appears to be 40. This alone sounds quite interesting, and if taken relatively seriously could be a decent film, but Coppola and the writers instead elected to produce cheap comedic gags.

A serious version of the movie could still have had a few comical moments, but to make the entire movie one long joke gets old fast. A man of Francis Ford Coppola's talents is completely wasted on a film like this, and it's a shame he didn't work on a different project instead.
