10 Terrible Movies That Have Surprisingly Awesome Soundtracks

8. Godzilla (1998)

The Movie: This is, by far, the worst thing Ferris Bueller has ever done to anyone. It beats out the time he nearly pushed his best friend into a suicidal depression. But seriously, large chunks of this Godzilla remake feel a lot like Matthew Broderick is trying to channel a character he was fifteen years too old to play. And this time there's a big green monster in the background. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIUAC03YMlA&list=PLF2F6032E3806E7E0 The Soundtrack: The idea of Puff Daddy sampling Led Zeppelin is enough to make fans of both hip-hop and classic rock queasy, despite Jimmy Page actually playing on the song. That atrocity aside, this is a solid soundtrack. Sure, it's a little bit of a patchwork, culling together whatever band was mildly popular at the time (Jamiroquai followed by Rage Against the Machine followed by Ben Folds Five?), but it all somehow works. The obvious standout is RATM's "No Shelter," a song that openly criticizes the movie its appearing on, as well as commercialism in general, with the following line: "Godzilla, pure motherfucking filler, get your eyes off the real killer."
