10 Terrible Movies That Have Surprisingly Awesome Soundtracks
7. Batman & Robin
The Movie: The worst thing to weasel its way into Gotham since the construction of Arkham Asylum, Batman & Robin deserves every tomato that's been tossed its way. Whoever you want to blame for this abomination--Joel Schumacher, George Clooney, the inventor of film--you wouldn't be wrong in directing your hatred that direction. Because everyone failed Batman here. Everyone. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfpnIyqieyk The Soundtrack: Whereas the movie went after children in a creepily aggressive manner, much of its soundtrack is clearly aimed at teens and twenty somethings, including an N-word heavy Bone Thugs & Harmony track (surprise!) and alt hip-hop/funk-rockers Soul Coughing. Some of the most lauded songs on the soundtrack when it was first released in 1997 haven't held up so well (R. Kelly's conspicuously heartening "Gotham City" is no "Kiss From a Rose," and Smashing Pumpkins didn't do a good enough job copying Nine-Inch Nails for their contributions), but most of it's still a rare delight. And the most pleasant surprise of all might be a Goo Goo Dolls soundtrack entry that isn't aimed squarely at your mom.
