10 Terrible Movies That Reward You For Staying Until The End

7. Smokin’ Aces

Smokin’ Aces from 2006 asks a very simple question - what if a talented magician was being hunted down by bounty hunters?

Jeremy Piven stars as Buddy “Aces” Israel, the aforementioned magic man, who becomes the target of a huge manhunt after he comes into possession of some important information. On his tail are the likes of Ben Affleck, Chris Pine, and Tommy Flanagan, whilst Aces has Ryan Reynolds and Andy Garcia on his side.

Not a bad cast at all, which makes it even more heart-breaking that the movie was mostly rubbish.

A glut of undercooked characters and an overly complicated plot weighed this one down in the eyes of viewers, although they were mostly happy with the action sequences, including this one right at the climax.

The film ends with a really well-choreographed firefight between the competing factions, some of the best action work of the entire film. It’s exactly what was missing from the rest of Smokin’ Aces and it’s really unfortunate that it came too little too late.

Then again, to paraphrase Christopher Nolan’s The Prestige, isn’t the ending of a magic trick the most important part?
