10 Terrible Movies That Reward You For Staying Until The End
6. Staying Alive
Saturday Night Fever is one of those films that not many people know has a sequel, and for good reason.
Staying Alive, which was released six years later and was directed by Sylvester Stallone, rejoins John Travolta’s Tony Manero as he follows his dreams of becoming a big-time Broadway dancer.
Whilst the first movie is mainly remembered for its dancing, it was gritty too and had an actual story to it. As for this one, well, it doesn’t have any of that. Or much of anything, really.
It does have a nice ending though, one that sees Tony finally take his place on the stage. After coming under fire for his performance in the first act, the hero breaks out into a solo dance whirlwind, showcasing Travolta’s incredible ability to move and sending the crowd into a frenzy.
The thing about the ending to Staying Alive is that it’s got pretty much nothing to do with the rest of the movie. It’s just a very talented guy dancing his heart out.
Whilst this would usually be a bad thing in cinema, based on everything else that had happened before this, it was a godsend.
