10 Terrible Movies That Would Have Been Much Better Off With A Different Director

Michael Bay once dismissed Transformers as a 'stupid toy movie' after he'd already agreed to direct it, which probably set some alarm bells ringing among the fans. The filmmaker has his own distinct sensibilities and visual style, and at no point did he ever feel like the right man for the job.

The first installment was easily the highlight of his involvement, with the four sequels getting progressively worse, but the decision to fit the concept around his style was the wrong one, when adapting his style to fit the concept would have resulted in a much better movie.

Steven Spielberg's presence as executive producer through Amblin hinted at the direction they initially wanted to take before Bay was hired, but the orchestrator of Bayhem refused to budge from his preferred tactics and instead delivered an assault on the senses that offered all of his signature and bombastic touches without a hint of irony or subtlety.

Travis Knight's Bumblebee showed how great a Transformers movie could be if the material was treated with respect, care and an actual plot that you could follow, and it unsurprisingly turned out to be the best movie in the franchise by a country mile.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
