10 Terrible Movies That Would Have Been Much Better Off With A Different Director

3. Terminator Salvation

Fans had been desperate for the Terminator franchise to bring the future war between man and machine to the big screen for decades, and when it was revealed that they were finally getting their wish, their enthusiasm quickly fizzled out when McG was announced to be directing.

No offense to the man who goes by Joseph McGinty Nichol on a Sunday, but at this point in his career he'd only directed three movies, two of which involved Charlie's Angels, and none of which were good. He seemed like an odd choice to helm one of the most hotly-anticipated sci-fi movies in years, not to mention one of the most expensive with a princely budget of $200m.

The most memorable thing about Terminator Salvation is Christian Bale's rant at the director of photography, which has absolutely nothing to do with the movie itself, and that pretty much sums it up. The storytelling, action scenes and attempts to expand the mythology are all about as devoid of personality and lifeless as the titular robots themselves, and marked the second disappointing follow-up in a row for the iconic franchise. Luckily they wouldn't repeat that mistake again...

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
