Man of Steel was a solid reboot for the title character, one that quickly laid the foundations for an entire cinematic universe that seemingly sprung up out of nowhere. However, it didn't take long for everyone to figure out that Zack Snyder only saw Superman as a stepping stone, and Batman was the iconic superhero that he really wanted to get his hands on.

It was clear where Snyder's priorities lay, with the Big Blue Boy Scout relegated to the sidelines in favor of focusing the real meat of the story on Ben Affleck's Batman, and any ties to Man of Steel came through either meaningless cameos from supporting players or plot points that were used solely to advance the story towards the climactic showdown.

There were too many characters, too many half-baked subplots, too much world-building and mountains of exposition to get through, before the entire titular conflict was resolved after about three minutes of heavy petting when they both discovered that their mothers have the same name.

The decision to hand Zack Snyder the keys to the entire DCEU is slowly being erased from memory, and in his hands what should have been a guaranteed billion-dollar success that gave fans the big screen clash of the titans they'd been waiting their entire lives for turned out to be a huge letdown.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
