10 Terrible Movies With Awesome Endings

8. Staying Alive

Meg 2
Paramount

1983's Saturday Night Fever sequel Staying Alive is the only film on this list to rock an impressively shambolic 0% on Rotten Tomatoes, and by way of its hilariously awful dialogue and unrelenting, poorly staged dance sequences, it absolutely earned its critical drubbing.

Yet director Sylvester Stallone did nevertheless manage to rustle up one of the most fist-pumping endings of all time, when protagonist Tony Manero's (John Travolta) Broadway debut goes down a storm and he reconciles with his girlfriend Jackie (Cynthia Rhodes).

Tony then professes to Jackie that he needs to do one thing in order to celebrate correctly - strut. And so, The Bee Gees' iconic "Stayin' Alive" - which was written for Saturday Night Fever's opening sequence - plays as Tony confidently struts through Times Square.

Capped off by a glorious closing freeze-frame, it's a perfect combination of cheesy and triumphant, striking a more earnest tone than any other scene in the entire movie by recalling Saturday Night Fever's own opening strut sequence.
