2. Young Michael Myers - Halloween (2007)
Why It Sucked: First rule of horror movie prequels; don't explain to us why the monster is the way they are. Isn't it much scarier that they're evil "just because", rather than by way of a pop psychology deconstruction? Furthermore, the film's second half is a lazy rehash of the original film, minus John Carpenter's cool suspense.
The Overlooked Positive: Though the opening half is at least more interesting than the second, the only reason to praise it is the excellent performance from Daeg Faerch, who plays a young Michael Myers. His exceptionally creepy turn just about makes the film worth a watch for franchise fans, as he conveys both the sweetness and the evil torment of a conflicted boy pushed over the edge. Sadly, he didn't make it back for Halloween 2 because he had apparently grown too tall.
