10 Terrible Remakes Of Awesome Movies That Almost Happened
7. Suspiria
Dario Argento's Suspiria is one of the most stylish and original horror films of all time. But it is Italian and was made way back in 1977, so of course it needed to be remade by Hollywood in the 2000's. In 2008 MTV announced that the remake was in production and that Pineapple Express and East Bound and Down director David Gordon Green was to direct with Natalie Portman slated to star. Yes, the remake had some major talent behind it. The announcement was not well-received by fans or by Argento himself who claimed that he would not go to the cinema to see the film if it were made. Then nothing happened for a while, although David Gordon Green was still involved and trying to get it made. As of this article, the remake has been cancelled, with Green citing the great expense required to recreate Suspiria's famous Technicolor look as the main barrier. In the current climate of found-footage horror films, it is not financially viable to make it. Argento fans can breathe a sigh of relief on this one.
