10 Terrible Remakes Of Awesome Movies That Almost Happened

6. The NeverEnding Story

Oh, this one ought to kick some people right in the childhood. How dare Hollywood put their hands on this children's classic. The remake was announced in 2009 by Warner Bros. with Leonardo DiCaprio's Appien Way production company set to produce the film. Apparently the film was not going to be a straight remake of Wolfgang Petersen's original but would be a reboot that would "examine the more nuanced details of the book". To hell with "nuanced details" - people want dodgy-looking evil puppet wolfs and rock monsters. Fans don't want CGI Falcor's or Will Smith's son in the lead role. In 2011 it was revealed that the remake probably wouldn't happen due to difficulty securing the rights to the story. What, could they not find the book or something? It's probably still in Bastian's loft.
