10 Terrible Twists In Recent Movies That Pissed Us Off
9. Adam Wasn't The Champion - Black Adam
Black Adam opens in ancient Kahndaq, where a slave boy called Adam is terrorised by the soldiers of King Ahk-Ton. A council of wizards (who are creatively called The Council of Wizards) believe Adam is worthy of greatness, and thus, endow the child with magical power. Seeing himself as a champion to his people, Adam uses his godlike abilities to end Ahk-Ton's tyrannical reign.
Or so we are led to believe. When Hawkman confronts the so-called champion in modern day, Adam informs him it was his son, Hurut, who was chosen by the wizards, not him. When Adam was mortally wounded, Hurut entrusted his godhood to father, moments before being killed.
Even if this twist wasn't spoilt for you in the trailers or the comics, it was anything but surprising. When Hurut speaks to his father in the prologue, Adam's face is noticeably obscured in every frame. Because the scene is shot so unnaturally to hide what Hurut's dad looks like, it's obviously trying (and failing) to set up a massive bombshell later in the movie. Although the truth about Adam was meant to be jaw-dropping, most viewers figured it out within the first five minutes.
