10 Terrifying Animated Horror Movies

5. The House

Netflix

If, for whatever reason, your life was lacking in Helena Bonham Carter voicing a stop-motion hippy cat, then this film is here to fill that void.

The House is a three-part anthology film that’s equal parts darkly comedic and really bloody creepy. Each tale tells of the same house but follows different inhabitants of it at different points in time: past, present and future. The individual stories are each so unique, and at times balls to the wall insane, painting a delightfully odd picture.

Throwing in some admittedly heavy-handed social criticism at times, the film also deals with the wider themes of inner peace and how material possessions will not grant that. With a talented cast featuring the aforementioned Carter, Mia Goth and even Bimini bon Boulash, the film is charming and creepy in equal measure.

Special shoutout to the dancing insects – animating that must’ve been a real pain in the bug-side.
