10 Terrifying Horror Films You’ve Probably Never Seen
3. The Prodigy (2019)
Who doesn’t love a classic killer kid movie every now and then? Well it's likely that a host of new parents might be planning on fleeing the country after this one! The Prodigy stars the adorable Jackson Robert Scott as the titular tyke with a remarkable IQ and a little bit of temper troubles. Fresh off his performance as Georgie in IT (poor little Georgie), Scott once again proves he has the pintsized chops for horror, managing to play a character you want to both cuddle and strangle.
Also, for audiences wanting to see how Piper Chapman would cope dealing with a demon child (no judgement here), then The Prodigy is just the film! Taylor Schilling puts in a great performance as the doting mother, as she pushes the plot forward whilst expertly mixing terror and love towards her evil offspring.
Whilst perhaps not as subtle and artsy as other films on this list, The Prodigy is a great addition to the “my child might be a wrong’un” genre of horror. Seeing the horror slowly unravel into a dark, gory mess whilst more and more is revealed about why this prodigy is becoming such a monster will be sure to keep those watching glued to seats and will have parents bolting bedroom doors shut and fearing children for days.
