10 Terrifying Horror Movie Deaths You Don't Remember

7. Patriot - Cooties

Green Inferno
Lionsgate

From Saw co-creator Leigh Whannell, Cooties is a horror-comedy that sees a batch of infected chicken nuggets turn the pupils of an elementary school into rabid, insane cannibals with a taste for teacher flesh.

Primary amongst these hungry kiddos, we have Patriot. Depicted as the leader of this ravenous horde, the youngster is one of the first to become infected by the gnarly nugs. Having tormented the adults of the picture throughout the majority of Cooties' 90-minute runtime, this little sh*t gets put down in glorious fashion when the time comes.

That 'time' is right at Cooties' climax, with the insane Patriot mowed down in spectacular fashion by our escaping protagonists' van. It's not the act itself that's terrifying here, but more it's the detail and graphic nature of the kill that makes this such a chilling moment.

Whilst Cooties is at times very much played for outright chuckles and tongue-in-cheek laughs, the death of Cooper Roth's Patriot is a jarring one. Hit by a van, his face caved in by the front bumper, and then his body driven into a nearby tree, Patriot's demise is clearly made all that more traumatic by the fact that he's a child.
