10 Terrifying Horror Movie Monsters With Very Little Screen Time

5. The Death Angels - A Quiet Place

Lamb Ending
Paramount Pictures

In A Quiet Place, aliens with hyper-sensitive hearing crash-land on Earth, killing anything that makes noise. One year later, these beasts, colloquially known as Death Angels, have reduced the world to a dystopian state. Our lead characters, the Abbott family, have managed to survive by living in silence. But no matter how cautious they are, they know a single sound could result in death.

In the opening scene, Lee Abbott's infant son, Beau, turns on a spaceship toy, causing it to emit a blaring sound. Based on the fear in his parents' face, we know Beau is in mortal danger. Although Lee tries to grab Beau, a Death Angel appears from the forest, killing the child.

Not only does the prologue set up the premise flawlessly, it demonstrates how dangerous the threat is, despite the fact the Death Angels aren't revealed until the very end.

However, it's the way the Angels' detect their prey that makes them so terrifying, not how they look. Although we don't get a good look at them until the climax, it doesn't stop them scaring us out of our wits from the get-go.
