10 Terrifying Horror Movies Inspired By H.P. Lovecraft

A more recent cinematic effort at bringing Lovecraft’s work to life, 2020’s sea-set horror thriller Underwater sees erstwhile Twilight heroine Kirsten Stewart take on some unseen terrors from the briny depths of the ocean floor.

Set in the claustrophobic boxed-in environs of a skeleton crewed submarine, the flick is a scary and intense thrill ride as the cast encounter vaguely humanoid monsters outside their flooding home—only for Cthulu himself to show up at the close and turn a vaguely Lovecraftian flick into a surprise actual adaptation.

We may not see much of the monster god, but it’s just as well Lovecraft’s characters are in the public domain for the maker s of this chiller nonetheless.
