Coming from director Alien Vs Predator filmmaker/ Inherent Vice director namesake Paul W.S Anderson, horror fans could be forgiven for dismissing Event Horizon. After all, this space set horror thriller got Anderson the job of making the execrable Resident Evil film adaptation, so how good can it really be?

Far better than it has any right to be, as a matter of fact.

Starring genre stalwarts Sam Neill and Laurence Fishbourne, this claustrophobic nightmare of a flick sees a spaceship encounter a wrecked vessel which appears to have become a portal to hell, and the horrific visions of an alternate world of torture and horror which recur throughout the tense flick are ripped straight from the disturbed mind of one Mr. Lovecraft.
