Another direct adaptation, this year's recent Color Out of Space is the third time this particular story of a small family driven to madness by an encounter with a mysterious asteroid has been adapted to celluloid.

So why did we choose to highlight the 2020 iteration?

Well, mainly because this one is a vibrant, terrifying headf*** from Hardware helmer Richard Stanley, a genre legend who had seemingly retired from filmmaking after the disastrous Marlon Brando project The Island of Dr. Moreau way back in 1996.

Add in a typically surreal turn from none other than Nicholas Cage and it should be obvious why this trippy nightmare is a must-see for Lovecraft fans and standard issue gorehounds alike.
