2. Terrible Villains
Marvel StudiosThis follows on from a couple of points ago, regarding poor interpretations of characters, but also includes even those villains who were actually meant to be like their comic book incarnations. Essentially, the villains have been weak as hell in Marvel's movies. We're yet to really see a villain whose attempts to carry out their schemes made the hero's plight seem pointless. Every single battle against a villain has looked winnable. The likes of Loki, Magneto, Doctor Octopus and Abomination have all been decent characters but, as villains, they've never appeared so threatening that audiences thought that the heroes they were up against were ever going to fail. While the likes of Deadpool, Doctor Doom, Whiplash and Blackheart have just been terrible from every single possible viewpoint. Marvel really need to up the villainous stakes - which they seem to be doing, as the likes of Thanos, Apocalypse and the Sinister Six are set to cause all kinds of havoc in their respective universes. The likes of Surtur and Dormammu should also be introduced - we need to see the heroes working harder to earn their victories.
