1. Contrived Links To Other Movies
Marvel StudiosIn some cases, certain scenes - and indeed entire movies - have felt like nothing more than stepping stones to follow-up movies, which basically takes the focus away from the scene - or movie - at hand. Iron Man 2, for example, felt like nothing more than a stepping stone to the Avengers, with Tony Stark absolutely not on form in comparison to his other appearances and Black Widow's introduction feeling like nothing more than a way of saying "yeah, the Avengers are coming". We already knew that, so it was unnecessary. Look at that scene in Thor when Hawkeye appeared for all of a few seconds, without so much as saying a word. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is even doing it on the television, with Marvel/Joss Whedon fitting as many references to the wider universe in as possible in order to ensure we all know it's linked to it. Indeed, all of the Marvel movies have become nothing more than an Easter egg hunt for some viewers, with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Amazing Spider-Man franchise and the X-Men movies being filled to the brim with subtle hints and clues as to what might happen in the future. Marvel should try to just allow things to happen naturally, instead of these desperate and contrived attempts to connect movies with future instalments - as it's ending up detracting from the story at hand.
