10 Things DC Fans Don't Want To Accept About The DC Extended Universe

7. DC Basically Just Copies Marvel Studios Now

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been a huge success for Marvel Studios and Disney, and even characters who are unknown to casual viewers - like Black Panther and Captain Marvel - wind up starring in blockbusters that gross over $1 billion at the worldwide box office.

When moviegoers rejected the dark tone of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Warner Bros. went into panic mode and made drastic changes to Suicide Squad to lighten David Ayer's approach to storytelling. That's the same reason the studio ultimately turned to Joss Whedon to make Justice League less Batman v Superman and more The Avengers.

From that point on, the attempt to replicate Marvel Studios' success continued in earnest, with Aquaman, Shazam!, and Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey basically copying and pasting their tones from the likes of Thor: Ragnarok and Deadpool.

Of course, the fans who once rallied behind Ayer when he declared "F*** Marvel!" during Suicide Squad's premiere would never have you believe that Warner Bros. would want to borrow anything from those "awful" Marvel Studios releases.
