10 Things DC Fans Don't Want To Accept About The DC Extended Universe
3. The DCEU Will Never Replicate Marvel's Success
It might be unnecessary, but the Marvel/DC rivalry is very real. Arguments about which characters, movies, and franchises are better will dominate the internet for years to come, and as you might expect, the respective fanbase of each comic book universe believes their favourite is best.
That's just one of those things, of course, but something DC fans definitely need to understand - regardless of whether they love or hate Marvel's output - is that the DCEU is never going to replicate Marvel's success.
At this point, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has the advantage of being established eight years before Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was released, so from a financial standpoint, there's no way Warner Bros.' DCEU can catch up. Beyond that, though, the damage which has been done to these characters in recent years means that it will take years until they find similar financial success.
From a critical standpoint, those who review movies for a living don't appear to like what the DCEU delivers, and yes, there may be a Marvel bias. However, when you look at everything Marvel Studios has planned - in cinemas and on Disney+ - it's clear DC will forever be playing catch-up.
