10 Things You Didn't Know About Ghostbusters

10. The Film Was Originally Called Ghost Smashers

If there€™s something strange in your neighbourhood, who you gonna call? Certainly not the Ghost Smashers. But that was just one of the frankly awful original titles for Ghostbusters. The original draft (written by Dan Aykroyd) was written as a futuristic, sci-fi epic about teams of €˜Ghost Smashers€™ that battled giant, ghostly monsters. But with Aykroyd's original vision estimated to cost over $300 million, Harold Ramis was brought on board to rewrite the entire thing€ and bring it back to the present day. Thankfully, the Ghost Smashers soon became Ghostbusters. But there was a small problem €“ an unrelated TV series had already taken the name. Of course, this was a legal nightmare and resulted in the production team briefly considering some alternative titles, such as Ghost Stoppers and even Ghost breakers. Doesn't quite have the same ring to it, does it? But as we all know, the copyright issues were quickly resolved and we got the Ghostbusters we know and love.
