10 Things You Didn't Know About Ghostbusters

5. Walter Peck Was Almost Flattened With Shaving Cream

Remember that scene when the Ghostbusters defeat the Marshmallow Man by crossing the streams? The resulting explosion of marshmallow goo enveloped the streets below and we were treated to a scene with EPA lawyer Walter Peck being drenched in ethereal mallow. But how did they accomplish this awesome scene? Instead of using actual marshmallow, the goo was replaced with 75 pounds of shaving cream. But while producers claimed it would be fine, it seems that William Atherton (the man who played Peck) wasn't convinced. Complaining that he may get injured filming the scene, they eventually agreed to test it out with a stunt double€ and the result was less than ideal. "They put some poor stunt guy underneath to show the sissy actor 'Okay, nothing€™s going to happen'," Atherton explained. "So they unleashed it, and it flattened him. They took out half of the shaving cream, and I went in very happily and was slimed." Still, getting drenched with at least 35 pounds of shaving cream isn't exactly easy going. But for Atherton, that was just the beginning. Often berated on the street by fans of the Ghostbusters, he found that playing the jerk can have quite an effect. It almost makes the shaving cream sound like an easy ride, doesn't it?
