10 Things You Didn't Know About Masters Of The Universe

5. The Ending Was Originally Longer And Almost Much Different

Even before money and company problems began to rear there ugly head, there were some jostling between producers Golan/Globus and director Goddard about the movie€™s ending. In the film, we see Castle Grayskull rebuilt and thriving after Skeletor€™s demise, with Julie and Kevin saying their farewells to He-Man and co. They are given the classic €œGood Journey€ send-off, but while they all briefly share a fleeting moment together, the original ending was very similar to €œThe Wizard of Oz€™ in so much as Julie and Kevin were given a much more personal goodbye. In addition to the filmed ending, there was another ending that they had written but never filmed, but did appear in the comic-book adaptation of the film. Written by Ralph Macchio (not that one), the finale created a big link between Eternia and Earth. After He-Man defeats Skeletor, Man-at-Arms finds both a NASA flag and United States of America flag. The NASA flag has a date printed on it, stating €œStarfinder 5, July 10th, 2221€, which was supposed to link the two planets together, suggesting that the first €œhumans€ on Eternia were actually from an American space mission from future US history.
