7. Hawkeye Is Hella Boring
Jeremy Renner is a pretty good actor. He managed to hold his own in The Bourne Legacy, despite having to work with a sub-par script and the shadow of a Matt Damon-starring trilogy hanging over him, and he more than deserved that Oscar nom for his work in The Hurt Locker. Unfortunately his skills are less well serviced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where he plays Hawkeye - hotshot archer and one of the iconic long term Avengers members in the comics - who is dull as all get out. In the comics Clint Barton has been going through something of a renaissance, thanks to the creative team of writer Matt Fraction and artists Annie Wu and David Aja, where hes a sort of clumsy, Rockford Files-style street level vigilante whose life is a mess and so is he. In the films, hes a really boring Generic Action Bro whose charmless cameo in Thor set up his future of being the least exciting member of the Avengers. Doesn't look like thatll be changing much in future.
