10 Things You Don't Want To Admit About The Marvel Cinematic Universe

4. They€™re All Sort Of The Same

On the one hand, it appears like what the MCU lacks in actual diversity, it makes up for in how different each of their films so far has been. Thor deals with gods and Norse mythology in a more fantastical setting, the first Cap film was a pulpy World War II adventure, the second a paranoid conspiracy thriller, Iron Man has got the wisecracking action thing down pat, and the Incredible Hulk was...whatever The Incredible Hulk was. Plus Guardians Of The Galaxy went way off reservation as a gonzo, nutty drunk Star Wars. Really, though, that€™s just about how they€™re packaged and delivered to the audiences. It€™s all window dressing. Strip that all away, take a look at how all of those films look on paper, and almost all of them are exactly the same. Each one follows the same three act structure Hollywood blockbusters have been using for decades, all the villains (bar Loki) have identically vague motivations, all the heroes go through the same characters arcs. Seriously, Stark/Quill/Thor are on the exact same journey.
