10 Things We Expect To Happen In The DC Cinematic Universe
3. A New Green Lantern
It's inevitable that films based on DC Comics are compared to films based on Marvel Comics. As the DC vs. Marvel war rages, proponents of the former consistently have to yield to the same point: that the 2011 Green Lantern film starring Ryan Reynolds is pretty horrendous. Marvel's had some hiccups, too, even within their declared MCU: Edward Norton showed up as Bruce Banner, and audiences and critics reacted poorly. Marvel seemed to sulk for a bit, but eventually said "So what?" and recast Mark Ruffalo as the scientist-turned-rage-monster. His performance very nearly negated any previous Hulk performances, and if he ever gets a solo film the bad taste left by Norton and Eric Bana before him will finally be washed away. Someone badly (BADLY) needs to come along and do this for Green Lantern. DC has done it before: the original live-action Bane from Joel Schumacher's pathetic Batman & Robin was€..well, pathetic, and it was all most people knew of the character until Christopher Nolan and Tom Hardy came along in The Dark Knight Rises and showed how awesome Bane really was. Recasting a part really isn't a big deal these days, and DC will certainly recast Reynolds. Furthermore, it doesn't even have to be a recast of the Hal Jordan Lantern, as there are a few other earthbound guardians to choose from. One that has been rumoured a lot recently is John Stewart, with one name in particular mentioned in the same breath...
