10 Things Fanboys Won't Accept About 2016 Movies

7. Star Trek Has Moved On From The TV Show

Star Trek Beyond could not have cemented the direction of the franchise further than by hiring Fast & Furious director Justin Lin. Previous director J.J. Abrams is a master of reinvention through nostalgia but with his departure the appointing of Lin promised adrenaline-fuelled action nonsense, which is mostly what we got.

The Trek films now feature crashing spaceships aplenty as Kirk, Spock, Bones and the rest throw punches and fire guns whilst keeping conversation and philosophical debate to a minimum. Though some fans have been won over by the new, more action-packed instalments of the Star Trek franchise, there are those who have not been so kind. While having to now watch dirt bikes flying up ramps, there are those who feel the show has lost its sense of exploration and with that its deeper meaning.

The movies becoming so mainstream have arguably alienated fans of the original series and of course this can be a bitter pill to swallow. Unfortunately fans will have to choke it down because, for better or worse, Star Trek has permanently moved on. At least where the silver screen is considered.
