10 Things Fanboys Won't Accept About 2016 Movies
8. Suicide Squad Was An Undeniable Mess
Watch the first Suicide Squad trailer followed by the last and you can clearly see that somewhere on the path to being released the film changed substantially. The stories that have emerged since the films release of deleted scenes and omissions of storylines, not to mention the clearly peeved reaction of star Jared Leto is all the proof needed to know that the studio had a heavy hand in the final piece.
This meddling unfortunately created a film that is no more than an extended music video featuring some DC characters. The film begins with three different popular songs in as many minutes, and the handling of the ensemble cast is not even worth discussing. Does Captain Boomerang even throw a boomerang?
Suicide Squad is the kind of film so loosely put together that if you start to pull at just one of the many frayed threads the whole thing doesn't just fall apart, it disintegrates.
The fanboy crowd cannot accept that Suicide Squad is subjectively a bad film. Removing the perceived hatred towards the DCEU, the plot is cliched and lazy, and the nonsensically beloved soundtrack just does not mesh to make anything close to a film that can be considered well made.
