10 Things Fanboys Won't Accept About 2016 Movies
5. Deadpool Was Really Rather Average
Deadpool is such a 'reach for the stars' success story that it's still hard to believe it even happened. Not only is the film an accurate representation of such a crude, violent character but the film is now the most successful R-rated release of all time. The film and creative team behind it should be commended, but break the film down and you'll soon realise it's quite average.
Look at the bare bones of the Deadpool story: guy is in love, guy gets experimented on and gains super powers, guy gets revenge. That's the origin for so many Marvel characters it's difficult not to wonder whether they're doing it on purpose just to see if anyone notices. Couple that with the boring bad-guy, mostly unmemorable supporting cast and predictable action set pieces and suddenly Deadpool don't seem so stellar.
Obviously there are fans who hold the film up as the best comic book outing of all time, but they need to accept that it's an average effort with a superb performance in the middle clouding all the mediocrity.
