10 Things Harry Potter Fans Probably Didn't Know About Voldemort
1. His Boggart Would Show His Own Death
As first demonstrated by former Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher Remus Lupin, boggarts are creatures that automatically shapeshift into the greatest fear of whoever is in front of them. Neville Longbottom saw Severus Snape, while Harry Potter saw a Dementor. Ever since this creature was introduced to the Wizarding World, fans have wondered what the Dark Lord himself would see if he came face-to-face with a Boggart.
And in 2005, they got their answer. When asked that very question by Mugglenet, Rowling replied, "His worst fear is death, but how would a boggart show that? I'm not too sure." The interviewer suggested that he would see a corpse and Rowling responded further with, "That was my conclusion, that he would see himself dead."
For such a powerful dark wizard, his ultimate fear being something so relatable and universal is somewhat sad. Voldemort was a brilliant wizard who was driven to madness and evil by his fear of the inevitable. You can't help but feel sorry for him, even it's just a little.
