10 Things Hollywood Needs To Stop Doing (But Never Will)

2. Stop Making Movies Solely For Teenagers

foto-foto-film-harry-potter-and-the-deathly-hallows-part-2-12 As a former teenager myself, I know that there is probably no demographic with worse taste in movies than teenagers. Despite this, the entire summer movie season is jammed full of movies that are primarily made for teenagers. Again, I understand that teenagers go to the movies more than other demographics, thus raising the demand for those kinds of movies, but if Hollywood wants to improve the quality of their blockbuster films, simply don't make them primarily for a teenage audience. Franchises like Twilight, Hunger Games and many others only exist because that's what teenagers want to see. A more annoying result is Hollywood's trend of "twilighting" everything, essentially casting actors because they appeal to the teenage crowd than for acting ability or how they fit the role. Movies can appeal to teenagers without being necessarily stupid, like the Dark Knight and a few others, but the majority of movies made for teenage audiences are more similar to Transformers or Twilight where they'll hide everything underneath endless explosions or terrible love stories. Movies are only as mature as the intended audience is and so movies made exclusively for a teenage audience have generally turned out increasingly mediocre.

I love movies, literature, history, music and the NBA. I love all things nerdy including but not limited to Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, and Firefly. My artistic idols are Dylan, Dostoevsky, and Malick and my goal in life is to become like Bernard Black from Black Books. When I die, I hope to turn into the space baby from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
