10 Things In Batman Movies That Make No Sense

4. The Missing Police During The Joker's Parade - Batman (1989)

In Batman '89, The Joker (Jack Nicholson) hatches a maniacal plan to lure Gotham's residents to a parade by promising to dish out free money, all in a ploy to dose them with Smylex, a chemical which causes anyone it comes into contact with to die laughing.

To be clear, The Joker publicly announces that he will be holding the parade, giving the Gotham PD a ripe opportunity to try and capture him, and yet, when the parade happens, the cops are oddly nowhere to be seen.

It's completely bizarre, and actually a result of creative changes during production.

A scene written into the original script but never filmed revealed that The Joker dosed Gotham PD's coffee supply with a debilitating yet non-lethal poison, ensuring that none of them were able to strike against him.

Granted, it's still highly implausible that The Joker would be able to take out every single cop in the city. Even so, it's not in the movie, and as a result leaves a gaping hole of non-logic behind.
