10 Things That Would Make You Excited For DC’s Cinematic Universe
9. Lighten The Tone
The sombre and gritty tone of Christopher Nolans Dark Knight Trilogy suited the time and needs of the character - DCs catalogue of characters do not all suit this tone. Man Of Steel proved this, and it seems DC are beginning to pay attention to this often made criticism. Tony Emmerich, president of New Line Cinemas (a subsidiary of Warner Brothers) has said that the tone of Shazam is going to be "fun". This is completely different to previous rumours of a no joke policy being implemented in DC films. If the tone is indeed being lightened up, then we can see the DC universe embrace the slight comedic tone that makes comic book movies so great - even the somewhat grounded X-Men films have kept some jokes in the movies. At the end of the day, superhero films should be fun, they should not be filled with death, destruction and devastating battles. DC look like they are learning this (slowly) so there is clear hope for their Cinematic Universe.
