10 Things That Would Make You Excited For DC’s Cinematic Universe
8. Filling The Films With References
Comic book fans love finding tiny little references in movies - the MCU does this all the time, and Man Of Steel snuck a few in (and fans loved finding them). There was a reference to Blaze Comics, who publish the Booster Gold comics in the DC Comics Universe, and there were allusions to Batman. Supergirl was hinted at, and many believed the oil rig scene foreshadowed Aquamans appearance in the DC movie universe. The plethora of Easter Eggs excited fans, and DC need to keep up the good work. Presumably they will continue to lay Easter Eggs in their productions, and it will help to create an immersive universe that fans want to engage with. The key problem with the Dark Knight Trilogy was that we did not want to live in that type of world - the DC Cinematic Universe looks set to be focused on the comic books, and the references that create this shared universe and interwoven plot are key to getting us to buy into the concept.
