7. Use Strong Villains

Zod and his army were worthy enemies of the Man of Tomorrow. They were evenly matched, and in the destructive final battle Superman had to cross a line to stop General Zod. DC have a wealth of epic villains who would pose a formidable threat to their heroes. With Lex Luthor soon to enter the universe in Dawn of Justice, and an entire Suicide Squad in production, it seems as though DC are investing in strong and worthwhile adversaries for their heroes to battle. What is a great hero without a strong foe? DC could easily beat Marvel on this front - the MCU is filled with weak villains, and if DC use strong adversaries in their first bundle of films then audiences will love the thrill of the hero being potentially beaten. Wonder Woman, The Flash, Cyborg and Aquaman each have so many archenemies that it is not hard to find a worthwhile villain to fight. Batman V Superman looks set to give us a fairly even fight, with Batman donning a mechanical armoured suit to bring him to Superman€™s level, so it seems as though DC are aware of how much audiences want to see their heroes tested, something Marvel are still struggling to do.
