10 Things MCU Fans Found Too Distracting

4. Poor Third Act CGI

You will find CGI throughout every single Marvel Cinematic Universe movie and Disney+ series. It is the nature of the beast that there are a lot of aspects to these stories that can’t be brought to life without it, and for the most part the franchise has excelled in this department. However, particularly in recent years, there have been struggles.

Sub-par CGI, usually appearing inexplicably in the third act, often falls way below the usual level of acceptability in the franchise and absolutely detracts from the overall experience. This has come in two forms.

Firstly, there is the over-the-top, unnecessary CGI fight to finish off a movie that absolutely didn’t need it. The main culprits for this are Black Panther and Shang-Chi, both of which are phenomenal films, but could have easily concluded in a far better way than by throwing as much CGI into a big fight scene as possible.

The other way is the smaller details that seem to have been phoned in by the graphics department. The end of Infinity War was an incredibly powerful moment, but was there anyone that didn’t question why the CGI that cut and pasted Bruce's head onto the Hulkbuster armour was ever allowed into the final product?

The same goes for the incredibly tough-to-look-at third eye that appeared on Doctor Strange’s forehead at the end of the Multiverse of Madness. Anyone could have made this with the most basic photoshop software, and you would be right to expect much better from a blockbuster movie.
