10 Things Movie Fans Find Too Distracting

9. Stupid Attempts At Comedy When It Just Wasn't Appropriate

A little bit of comedy never hurt any film, when it's used in the right way.

Yet, not every director understands when to drop a moment of levity into their picture and often these badly timed wise-cracks can derail a dramatic scene and/or elicit a confused response from an audience.

Examples of these jarring beats are often found in MCU movies, with David Hasselhoff's sudden appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Ben Kingsley's Mandarin turning out to be nothing more than a p*ssed up actor both standing out as needless comedic twists for the sake of a cheap laugh.

Yet, these dumb attempts at comedy in scenes which clearly didn't need it aren't exclusive to Kevin Feige's playhouse. Recently we've seen Star Wars drop the ball with that awful Poe Dameron/General Hux exchange at the start of The Last Jedi, and the DCEU consistently made us cringe in Justice League with ill-advised Bat-quips like 'I hear you can talk to fish' and Superman confessing to Lois Lane that he felt 'itchy' coming back from the dead.

We get it, these films aren't designed to be all doom and gloom. But, is it that hard to see that some scenes just aren't crying out for a joke?
