10 Things Movie Fans Find Too Distracting

5. Product Placement

Star Trek Into Darkness
Marvel Studios & Coca Cola

Product placement is definitely nothing new. In fact it's been around in movies since as far back as the 1920's, with the first ever Best Picture winner Wings featuring a bar of Hershey's chocolate during a scene.

Yet, the cameras used back then weren't quite as clear as the ones we use today, meaning the product placement didn't feel quite as distracting.

Nowadays, though, you can't sit through a blockbuster mega movie without being smashed over the head with various brands or pieces of must-have kit.

Just look at Jurassic World, which blatantly showed off everything from Mercedes Benz' GLE 450 AMG Coupe SUV to Beats headphones throughout the flick.

Annoyingly, all this does is remind audiences their watching a money making machine which isn't happy with them simply buying a ticket and enjoying the show. These monstrous movies would rather they leave the cinema wanting a bottle of Coca-Cola rather than a deep meaningful discussion about what they've just witnessed.

In 2020, most people are well aware of these painfully obvious attempts to squeeze more dough out of their wallets. So, all product placement really does is pull us away from whatever part of the action we were enjoying/putting up with at that moment.
